## **7. Fabrication & Processing Notes**

* **Welding:** Good weldability using standard methods (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW). However, the heat from welding will anneal the cold-worked area in the Heat-Affected Zone (HAZ), resulting in a localized loss of strength and hardness. Post-weld heat treatment may be considered for critical applications.
* **Heat Treatment:** Responds well to **case hardening** processes like carburizing or carbonitriding. The cold-drawn condition is often used as-is for parts requiring moderate strength, but annealing may be performed prior to severe forming or machining operations where maximum ductility is needed.
* **Stress Relieving:** For parts requiring high dimensional stability after heavy machining, a low-temperature stress relief (approx. 260-315°C / 500-600°F) can be applied to reduce internal stresses without significantly altering mechanical properties.
